HEAT ISLAND

Heat islands are localized rises in temperature, particularly in urban settings. These areas can have negative consequences on the health of the people who frequent them, on air quality, the attractiveness of the municipality and on nearby infrastructures.

In order to adapt to this phenomenon amplified by global warming, Alterna suggests that municipalities identify these islands, their causes and implement measures to reduce them. These measures will most of the time have co-benefits in other areas, such as quality of life, biodiversity and tourism.
